Recents, Sophia Bazelgette, EE 2022
Recents
A filmmaker delves into his personal archive, using a photocopier to repeatedly degrade images and videos, transforming them into ghostly traces of their original form. As the visuals erode, so do the certainties of memory. This experimental film explores the fragility of recollection, where each reproduction distances the image further from its source. Memory becomes an unreliable copy – a fading echo of what once was. Direction Sophia Bazelgette Duration 6' Country Estonia Year 2022

The Eastern Rain, Milly Yencken, EE 2023
The Eastern Rain
If the rain were to fall indoors, but never outdoors ... then where would we begin to look for shelter? A place said to give refuge from bad weather or danger? Outside the fence, the bell continues to toll, and if we are not there, then perhaps it’s only a sound that rings out inside of its own mourning. I spoke to myself, he to him, she to her, the ground spoke to the ground, the trees to the tree. Meanwhile inside, that familiar, well-met rain continues to fall. My Mother the Sea, Aspasia Kazeli, EE 2022
My Mother, the Sea
“η μητέρα μου, η θάλασσα” (“My Mother, the Sea”) is a short animated film which explores and symbolically expresses the process of my grieving since the loss of my mother, from her passing until today. This three-year journey is captured allegorically in this film as a weaving of two parallel paths: the mother’s journey to the afterlife and the parallel grieving states of her child. From her last breath to my mourning and the only transient salvation from it. It is an observation of her transition, which her child follows with its personal emotional dissolve.
