Wheelchair access

Almost all our locations are wheelchair accessible without limitations and have wheelchair-accessible restrooms. There are a few exceptions:

  • The wheelchair-accessible restroom in the  Festival Centre (Merker-Areal) is located behind Restaurant SpeditionX and is accessible from 6:00 to 20:30. For use before or after these times, please contact the information desk for the key.

  • The Stanzerei and the Tumbler are only wheelchair accessible via goods elevator. Please contact the info desk or call +41 56 560 20 59.

  • The Kino Orient is partially accessible for wheelchair users (but without a wheelchair-accessible restroom).

Guide dogs / assistance dogs

Guide and/or assistance dogs have access to all venues.

Fantoche is screening a film with German audio description and integrated German voiceover in 2026. Through headphones, guests receive spoken descriptions of what is happening on screen.

Selected films (especially children’s films) are offered with a live voiceover in German. The dialogue is not heard in the original language, but instead spoken live in German in your headphones.

Sign language and closed captions

The opening and closing speeches, as well as the audience talks before or after screenings with Closed Captions, will be interpreted into Swiss German Sign Language (DSGS). Unlike regular subtitles, Closed Captions also include information about sound effects and scene descriptions. At Fantoche 2026, three films will be shown with Closed Captions.

Click here to see all screenings with Closed Captions of Light Pillar, Son of a Bitch and Le mystère Lucy Lost.

All films (unless explicitly stated otherwise) will be screened in the original version. If the original language is not German, the films will be subtitled in German and/or English.

In 2026, Fantoche is presenting a screening as a Relaxed Screening for the first time. The environment is adapted so that everyone can experience the film in a comfortable way. Movement and sounds from the audience are explicitly allowed. You can take a break, leave the cinema and return at any time. The room remains slightly lit throughout, and the volume is turned down. The entrance door remains slightly open. There will be no advertising before the screening. Please also check the content notes for the film.

Fantoche is strongly opposed to any form of discrimination. In the event that any of our guidelines are violated, please contact our awareness team immediately at +41 78 230 86 09. You can find further information about our awareness policy here.

Holders of a «KulturLegi» receive a 50 % discount on individual tickets. This does not apply to tickets for the Industry Day.
