Angry Frames
What’s “animated punk”? The frames get angry when you try to enclose them in categories. I looked for films that were against visual pleasure, films that scream anti-state, anti-police, anti-patriarchy messages. Strikingly, animations from the ’80s / ’90s seem more dirty, perverted, sacrilegious. (Olga Bobrowska)

Los Viejos: Amnesia in the State
The band Los Viejos describes themselves as “Old-school, new-school, with skate punk, thrash and grind,” and this music video seems to celebrate all those styles. Stripping away all conventional rules of aesthetics, it merges qualities of VHS, YouTube and social media, infotainment tv, and comic strips. (Photosensitivity alert.) Baton , Reynaert Vosveld, NL 2018
Baton
This story about police brutality unravels with the use of reduced art design, simple animation, and minimalistic audio. In a disturbingly sensual manner, the images explore the structure and functionality of a baton as well as the performativity of a police character in action. Dictators like Hitler do not come out of nowhere. Some among us want them to come, some don’t feel the need to resist, others think it’s better just to wait. A Short Manual of Linguistic Anarchism
An anarchistic experiment in overthrowing an oppressive regime of language. It is a kaleidoscope of absurd, animated and live-action images, distorted sounds, and misinformative texts. Radically and randomly rebellious, this guerilla art is also ironic. Direction Sasha Svirsky Duration 4' Language RU/en Country Russia Year 2017

Hand-processed and hand-animated, this video was shot on Super8 film. The vintage charm of direct-on-tape animation mixes with naturalistic footage from a concert. Grabowski, Haus des Lebens
This pioneering, award-winning CGI is the debut animated film by Mariola Brillowska, an eccentrically daring visual artist, performer, and writer. Kinky/sado-erotic, passionate, and ugly at times, the film sets a cemetery as the stage for exercises in sexual fulfilment across the borders of class.
