Night of the Zoopocalypse
Under the watchful eye of her gruff grandmother, Gracie the wolf pup trains for “eventual emergencies”. But really, what could possibly happen at the zoo? Inspired by cult author Clive Barker, this horror parody more than makes up for its small budget with neon colours, Jeff-Koons-like zombie creatures and nerdy dialogue humour.
Gracie, a female wolf pup at Colepepper Zoo, is bored to death with the constant training to fend off an enemy that never shows up. But one night, a pink meteorite hits the zoo and suddenly changes everything. It releases a virus that turns harmless animals into zombie-like creatures. Gracie teams up with Dan the mountain lion and other animals spared by the virus to save her pack and the entire zoo. And there is also Xavier, a film-obsessed red ruffed lemur that is absolutely certain this is a zoopocalypse!
The family-friendly horror film “Night of the Zoopocalypse” is the joint feature-film debut by Ricardo Curtis (“The Incredibles”) and Rodrigo Perez-Castro (“Ice Age”). Based on an idea by cult author Clive Barker, this imaginative animated film is full of suspense, humour and exceptional characters. The Canadian-Belgian-French co-production was recently nominated for the Anima’t Award at the Sitges-Catalonian International Film Festival. The film celebrates its Swiss premiere at Fantoche.
