Maya Yonesho
Maya Yonesho was born in Japan and now lives in Stuttgart, Germany. In her abstract animated works, she explores intercultural and interpersonal communication without words, using landscape, sound and voice. Since 2006, she has travelled to 22 countries on three continents, led animation workshops and made films for her series “Daumenreise”. In this series, she sets expressive, personal animations against the backdrop of real places, allowing viewers to experience individual perspectives on collective spaces. In addition to this ongoing project, Maya works as a freelance animator and lectures internationally. Maya believes that animation has the power to celebrate culture and community and build bridges around the world.
