What is the first animated film you remember seeing and what special impact did it have on you?

The first animated film I can remember is the anime adaptation of Ghost in the Shell. I can’t remember exactly how old I was at the time, but I was about six or seven years old. My parents were watching the film on the telly and I watched it with them. I learnt what cyborgs are; the characters had great hairstyles and dressed really cool. Although I didn’t understand a word and my parents covered my eyes during the violent scenes, I was really fascinated by that cyberpunk aesthetic and the incredible animation. As a young boy, I also really enjoyed the action scenes.

The film introduced me to the world of anime – a world I still love to this day. I must say, though, that I only like feature-length anime films; anime series don’t really appeal to me.
